We love supporting our community! This year The Jen Scholte Team is excited for our 12 Days of Community Gifting. Over the next couple of weeks we will be highlighting and gifting to some of the wonderful organizations in South Georgian Bay who provide amazing services in support of our community.

Day 1 - Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation

To kick off our 12 Days of Community Giving we chose to give back to the Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation an organization that provides compassionate care in the home and at Campbell House for individuals and families dealing with life-limiting illness living in the communities of The Town of Blue Mountains, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and Clearview Township. Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation requires ongoing donations from the southern Georgian Bay community to meet the critical need for top-quality and free palliative care services both at Campbell House and in the community.

Day 3 - Bruce Trail Concervancy

The Bruce Trail is Canada's oldest and longest marked footpath stretching 900 km from Niagara to Tobermory. Because of the generous donations that came in this year the Bruce Trail was able to secure over 1,027 acres of protected natural land and plant 8,946 trees and 200 wildflowers across various trails. For our members of The Jen Scholte Team, hiking the Bruce Trail is of the most enjoyed activities that we do year long.

Day 5 - Home Horizon- Barbara Weider House

Day 5- We are giving The Gift of Education. Homelessness is no place for our youth and the holiday season is an especially difficult time for them. Home Horizon provides safe, stable, affordable housing, health, life skills education, mentorship, and individualized support plans that help them to set realistic goals and teach them skills that will last a lifetime. This year ,thanks to a matching donation of $30,000 from two long-time donors, donations will have DOUBLE the impact!! Every dollar YOU donate to Home Horizon between now and December 31st will be DOUBLED (up to $30,000).

The services of Home Horizon target youth experiencing homelessness in the Southern Georgian Bay area The Barbara Weider House (BWH), their transitional housing program, is staffed 24 hours a day and currently has capacity for seven youth to live in the house and is expanding to ten in the new year. In addition to providing safe, stable and affordable housing, we provide health and life skills education, mentorship, and individualized support plans that help them to set realistic goals and teach them skills that last a lifetime. Helping those facing homelessness in our community is a costly business and sadly there is an overwhelming demand for these services. Currently there are 28 youth on their waitlist. We are asking you to give a gift so that youth in our community with nowhere else to go can access supports to help them build a bridge in their life to a stable, healthy future.

Day 9- We are giving The Gift of Healthy Seniors. The Environment Network will be launching a new program in 2022 called the Intergenerational Cooking for Seniors program. This program was developed in response to a significant need in our community. This program encompasses a holistic approach to engaging healthy seniors which is vital to their overall health and wellness. Social Isolation is seen to be one of the leading factors of declining health and one that is overburdening the health care system. This project reduces negative impacts through social engagement focusing on mental health and increasing nutritional health.
